Happy Birthday Little Sis

Today is my little sisters 28th birthday, so technically she could be classed as a Vintage Belle although I'm pretty sure that's not how she would like to be described. So for today I am having a double Friday Vintage Belle. Let me introduce to you my little sister G.

She was definately cheeky looking when she was younger..........yeah you're right, she still looks cheeky now!

Happy Birthday Lil Sis, have a fantastic day, I'm over the moon the sun came out for you xxxx

Jane Fonda

Today is glorious, the sun is shinning, there's a cool breeze and everyone is smiling......a lot!

My Friday Vintage Belle this week is Jane Fonda.  These photos of her are so beautiful you can see why she became famous. Born on 21 December 1937 she shot to fame in the 60's after the success of Barbarella, with those outfits she was never not going to be a star. She's an actress, a political activist, a fitness goddess, a model and a writer.  Her cook book is one of my favourites and my all time favourite meal is a spicy peanut butter pasta dish.....sounds weird eh? but it's delicious and I can't get enough of it......so thank you Jane Fonda for spicy peanut butter pasta.

Ann Blyth

I have a really special Friday Vintage Belle this week.  It's special because she is the 2nd cousin of one of my closest friends.  Can you imagine having someone so famous and glamorous in  your family?  Perhaps you do, how amazing would that be...let me know, I'm so nosey!

Ann Blyth born 16th August 1928

She started her acting career in 1941 on Broadway. Then in 1944 she was signed to Universal Studios and starred in many films including some musicals such as Babes On Swing Street.

1945 saw her loaned to Warner Brothers who cast her as Veda Pierce Forrester, the conniving ungrateful daughter of Joan Crawford.  I really wanted to post a clip her her famous argument with Joan Crawford, where she gets slapped by Joan...it's very dramatic and you can see why she received an Academy Award Nomination for her portrayal.

Instead of a clip you will have to make do with this still just before they run up the stairs and fight.

Another stunning and glamorous Friday Vintage Belle.....and one with a wonderful, loving and generous 2nd cousin.

Friday Vintage Belle

Jane Russell, June 21, 1921 – February 28, 2011

 She was quoted saying.....

"Sex appeal is good, but not in bad taste. Then it's ugly. I don't think a star has any business posing in a vulgar way. I've seen plenty of pin-up pictures that have sex appeal, interest, and allure, but they're not vulgar. They have a little art to them"

She had an amazing career spanning decades both in film and music.  She started with a seven year contract with Howard Hughes and  a film called The Outlaw.  This was filmed in 1941 but not released until 1943 in a small way and this was all to do with the way they showed off.....made the most of her natural assets. It finally got released properly in 1946.

Friday Vintage Belle

Ann-Margaret born April 28 1941

I love this picture so much, she is so stunning and the colours are totally gorgeous. This is taken from a film called Murderers' Row starring Dean Martin and Karl Madden (1966). Happy Birthday for tomorrow Ann-Margaret.
