Featuring...Rolling Hills Vintage

Tell us a bit about you and your shop

I love vintage and always feel I was born in the wrong time. I should be kissing that sailor after he arrives back home after World War II. Love the ambition that folks had from that era. Not to mention, the clothing styles, furniture, autos.
I was a Featured Seller on Etsy and you can read my story here. I tell about my passion and why I do what I do.
Where else can we find you!/pages/Rolling-Hills-Vintage/100907738396

Where did you get your love of vintage from?

I'm not sure. I have loved vintage since I was a little girl. I would cradle my Grandmother's antiques in my hands, and quickly put them away when I heard her footsteps. My favorite activity, probably starting at age 9 or 10 was rummaging through second hand stores. I grew up before the age of garage sales.
Do you have a vintage obsession, for instance, I am totally addicted to vintage glasses, I have way too many?

Vintage ephemera, vintage ribbons and laces, antique canning jars, Kewpie dolls
What’s the strangest item you have ever found?

It's not the strangest item but it was the most surprising item. I paid $3.00 for a large hatbox at an estate sale. After we were stowing it in the back of our Jeep, I opened the lid and found five ladies hats. All from the 1920's-1930's.

What is your favourite item in your shop?

Everything is my favorite. I only list what I love. And, always feel a little sadness when something sells. Only to fall in love with the next new item as soon as I hold it in my hands to try to "feel" its past life.
I must say that my current passion is copper and I love the copper boiling pot I recently listed.
Tell us what you love about your favourite era?

As I stated before, the 1940's post war. It was a fresh new beginning. The war was over, relationships were renewed and everyone had the ambition to make our planet a better place to live.

What advice would you give to people just starting out?

Join teams, list items regularly, take great photos. Most of all, treat your customer as you would want to be treated. Customer service should always be #1 priority. Customers that are treated kindly and receive a great product will return. And, remember, always communicate with your customer. Give them an estimated delivery date along with a tracking number. Package with utmost care!
Is there anything you wished you had done differently?

No, I'm happy where I am in my life. I love my fulltime job. Love my husband dearly, even after 43 years of marriage, adore my son and his family and thouroughly enjoy Etsy and all the wonderful friends I have made from all over the world!
If you could learn something new what would it be and why?

How to garden without being grossed out by the bugs. Especially tomato worms.

Where is your most favourite place on Earth?

Cambria, California. An artist town on the Central Coast of California. Great antiquing also!

I’m a massive pizza fan, what would be your dream pizza topping?

I grew up in Chicago, the Pizza capitol of the world! Sausage, green peppers, onions and mushrooms.

What would your pirate name be?

Mrs. Johnny Depp
What question do wish I had asked and what would you answer be?

I really can't think of any. You covered it!
