Tell us a bit about you and your
shop
I am a Registered Nurse and my
husband is in Irrigation. We both have a
love for history and get nostalgic for the past. We love hunting for treasures and like to
believe we are saving a bit of history by sharing our finds with others. I named my shop after my husband who got
silly early in our marriage and called himself my Love Butler ;) We still play that game!
Where else can we find you?
Etsy is all we can manage because
we both have full time day jobs. I was
determined to sell without having to have a website and social media so we are
proof it can be done.
Where did you get your love of
vintage from?
My parents, definitely. They are both lifelong learners and taught us
the value of historical objects and information.
Do you have a vintage obsession,
for instance, I am totally addicted to vintage glasses, I have way too many?
I have had many – one is glass
condiment dishes since they are tiny and delicate and don’t take up much
room. Another is anything mirrored – I
love the light that mirrors splash around!
What’s the strangest item you
have ever found?
Probably a “sewing bird” – it was
so beautiful and I had to have it but I was unsure what it was until
researching it. It is a clip in the
shape of a bird that held threads or yarns for women as they sewed. To this day it is the only item I stashed
away so well I can’t find it! When it
resurfaces it will be like the first time I saw it in California in an antique shop LOL.
What is your favourite item in
your shop?
The Lucie Ann negligee in pale
yellow. It is so romantic.
Tell us what you love about your
favourite era?
Mid century 50’s 60s … both
because we grew up in these “Wonder Years” and times were simple and
innocent. Things from this era are
beautifully designed and made to last.
What advice would you give to
people just starting out?
Read everything you can on Etsy –
from the forums to the handbook and blog.
All you need to know is there and Etsians are generous. They share their knowledge and expertise and
are willing to help us learn.
Is there anything you wished you
had done differently?
I would have gutted my spare
bedroom and installed shelves to house my inventory and store my shipping
boxes. As it is now I am a bit boxed out
from the inside J Also, I should have been a bit more careful
with keeping business and personal banking separate.
If you could learn something new
what would it be and why?
How to repair and refurbish old
telephones. I have three incredible ones
that need work and who is available to do that these days?
Where is your most favourite
place on Earth?
A tie between Maui ,
HI where we got “maui’d” and Switzerland for
the natural beauty beyond compare.
I’m a massive pizza fan, what
would be your dream pizza topping?
Mushrooms and spicy sausage, and
mucho cheese of course!
What would your pirate name be?
JoJo’s Wench since I am his J
What question do wish I had asked
and what would you answer be?
Hmmm, you’ve stumped me
here! Maybe how I happened upon
Etsy. It’s not that interesting though,
I believe it was just web surfing and happenstance. But I am glad I did! Thank you so much for including me, we
appreciate it so much !! J
Hahaha, I love how she named the shop.
ReplyDeletewow I never knew about sewing birds before this post. My dad has a lot of old telephones (bakelite and railwaypostoffice ones on wooden boxes) He fixes those sometimes but hasnt for a few years.
