A tout a l'heure

This post is a week late in coming and that's mainly down to several factors.  1. Is that I have had my dad here visiting from Canada and although I have posted this one took a bit more thought for me  2. I had to decide which photo's to use because some of my very dear friends would probably be horrified if I posted them on here and 3. I was still feeling a little bit delicate about the whole thing, I still am but am able to post about it.  Not the greatest excuses but mine nonetheless.

So here we go,  last week my mother went on a long holiday to France (and by long holiday I mean moved but shhh she doesn't like to describe it that way) The knit club that we are in held a bon voyage meal for her last Friday evening.  So with a beret and a bottle of wine....I know, sorry for being SO cheesy we went for dinner at the other end of the village.

I feel a bit lacking in what I took (2 bottles of wine and some Port Salut cheese) because the menu was out of this world gorgeous.  My mum's best friend bought along a beautiful in every way tray of starters.  These included little squares of Asparagus Fritatta's, Smoked Salmon Heart Sandwiches topped with chive flowers and Pear and Parmesan Wrapped in Palmer Ham, my new absolute favourite starter of all time (don't tell anyone but I had at least 7...our little secret)

Next was the main course cooked by the hostess, Beef Bourguignon, Roast Baby Potatoes and Green Beans, melt in your mouth delicious, again I ate way more than I should have!!

Followed by a divine Pot Au Chocolat topped with cream, strawberries and a dusting of chocolate powder made by the lovely SN, you know who you are!!

In between all this there was copious amounts of wine being poured and my wonderful neighbour Mrs D, made a drink consisting of fizzy white wine and Cassis although I think she put too much Cassis in because it tasted JUST like Benalyn (a cough syrup I used to have as a kid) although I loved it as a kid so it was pretty nice and the colour was amazing!!

Luckily my mum gave herself a day to recover before she got the ferry because from all accounts it was a rough crossing.

Here's a big CHEERS to all the knit club girls and Mr S for hosting a wonderful, memorable evening. Now we just have to teach my mum how to use Skype so we can continue knit club in two different countries!

Love you mum xxx

  2. What a lovely post! I, too, hope that your mom will enjoy her time in France and will succeed to get skype. It is such a life saver for families living apart.
